I missed my students. I really did.
But I was enjoying my spring break and additional (fluke) week that kept me in tropical paradise…Hawaii for spring break (cashed out all the miles and hotel points!) and then Bermuda for a reward trip for my spouse. I know, I know…spoiled brat–but a rested one Ha!
On these trips I regrouped, thought about how I wanted to finish up the year and also created a very cool geography lesson for my return. The wildest thing was that I felt new affection and patience for some of my more challenging pumpkins who have made learning difficult for the rest of the class.
I also got a full-to-the-top heart when they threw their arms around me at the door on Friday (yes..crazy to be 4 hours behind with no plans and show up on a Friday). So much love and affection and appreciation. It was flat-out awesome.
So…not that it’s possible to fly the coop for two weeks when the going gets tough in April of 2017…but I do feel that the filled up tank every year during spring break is a win/win for my class and me.
Bring on that testing! Yeah, not really…but bring on those kids becoming 4th graders in front of my eyes. It’s an incredible thing.
Hope you had a wonderful break and are feeling rested!
