Bentley University to take crypto for tuition payments – NBC Boston
Cryptocurrency continues to gain a foothold in more and more sectors of the economy. Waltham-based Bentley University announced on Tuesday that it is now accepting cryptocurrency for tuition payment and also plans to accept gifts and donations in Bitcoin, Ethereum and stablecoin USD Coin.
In partnership with Coinbase, Bentley claims it is one of the first US universities to offer the digital payment option.
“Bentley University is at the forefront of preparing business leaders with the skills and knowledge to succeed in the changing global economy,” said President E. LaBrent Chrite. “We are proud to embrace this technology our students are learning, which will soon transform the global business landscape they are about to enter.”
Citing data from the Pew Research Center, the university said more than 41 million Americans — 16% of American adults — have invested, traded or used cryptocurrency.
Student Alex Kim started investing in bitcoin in high school, and last fall launched the Bentley Blockchain Association, the university said, citing student interest as the reason for a new crypto course. finance that will be launched at Bentley this fall.
