Tahoe Learning Lab Hosts Open House | South of Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The Tahoe Learning Lab opens in August and is hosting an Open House on Monday, August 1 from 5-7 p.m.
Subscriptions for middle and high school students are now available, but places are limited.

What is that?

The owners have described it as a coworking space for students or a model of 21st century learning. It is not a school, and many students who have memberships are enrolled in Elevated or ILA with Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD), or a local charter school. As a charter school vendor, they categorize their services under tutoring. They have highly qualified learning coaches who are accessible for tutoring services in math, ELA, history, science, etc.

But, they have so much more to offer students beyond tutoring services. This space is paired with tools and inspiration for students to pursue projects based on their interests in a STEAM lab. They offer video editing, animation, music, textile design, a ski and bike shop, science activities, chess tournaments, a student winter film festival, and more.

Owners Jon and Liz hope to provide families in the SLT community with more options for the education of their students. In my experience, I’ve found one thing that deters families from trying home schooling is the worry of isolating themselves from peers. The Tahoe Learning Lab is one solution. We are open Monday to Thursday from 9am to 2pm and students can use the space and access tutors and socialization as much or as little as they want.
